And she led me to the table…” Let me introduce you to Nimue, also known as Nineveh, the chief Lady of the Lake and the lily queen. Merlin fell in love with her and taught her all that he knew. But she grew afraid of him and enclosed him underneath a stone and left him there to die. Some of you might know that I am absolutely fascinated with Arthurian legends. My main subject of studies has been German medieval literature, and I also read a lot about the English legends, too. Last week, I wrote my exam in English literature about Thomas Malory’s “Le Morte Darthur” and it inspired me to make this picture. Maybe it will be the beginning of a new series. I made a series of “Cruel Fairytales” pictures when I joined DA, and I enjoyed it a lot. Maybe a series of Arthurian women would be a nice thing to do. In modern versions, of course.  My favourite is Morgan, I will paint her without any doubt. And Gwenwhyvar. And Elaine of Astolat. And maybe Elaine of Corbenic. Margawse. Ygraine. I’m beginning to like this idea more and more. And the idea of an Arthurian series sounds too good to be true. You mentioned that you'd do modern versions of each woman; have you ever tried doing period clothing? I bet you'd be amazing at it.
